National Day in JYPS

The annual National Day Celebrations just ended last weekend and I'm sure many of you miss the great old celebrations in Junyuan with the Singing, march-in, lower Primary Sports and of course the sea of red and white.

Well... here are some photos of this years celebrations to help you remember what the good old times were like.

The March in by the Uniform groups. Just a short few minutes march in took them days of practice under the sun.

The familiar flag- raising ceremony but not so familiar to the younger students like the P1s since they have flag raising in classroom now.

There was a performence put up by the P5 students reciting the chant about the founding of Singapore.

Their colourful performence included them wearing national costumes of the different races and carrying the flags of Singapore, Malaysia, Britain and Japan which are nations once affiliated to Singapore.

The children just seem to have so much patriotism in them.

After the ceremony, the different levels moved off to their different destinations.

The upper Primary including 4,5 and 6 went to the hall for Sing- along session and some performences.

They waved their flags and sang happily.

Seems like a really exciting performence.

They even showed their patriotism and love for Singapore right on their faces!

The lower Primary of 1,2 and 3 took part in the annual national day lower primary sports.

They watched intently...

They raced...

They crawled...

They cheered...

They ran...

And they had fun!

Eventually... everyone emerged a winner!

Peek- a- boo!

Don't these two boys look alike? They are Super look- alike brothers Zufar (1/1) and Zufadli (5/7). They're so alike they seem like the same person of different ages. There's even an older brother that looks alike as well but just the older version. What strong genes!

JYPS 20th anniversary concert

We would like to apologise for not being able to open up ticket sales for the JYPS 20th anniversary concert to the alumni. The tickets were snapped up by parents and current students the minute they were released and despite adding 100 seats, there simply wasn't enough.

If you really would like to watch the concert, perhaps you can drop by Tampines West CC tonight at 7.30pm and you may be able to snap up the last few tickets. (Or watch it standing up, if you don't mind.) Just check with the ticketing counter.

Here are some more photos we took at THAF family Day 2008.

If you haven't heard, the JYPS alumni (aka US) set up a fruit fondue and drinks stall to raise funds for the alumni. But I guess it wasn't as easy as we thought it would be. [I mean, how difficult should it be to chop up some fruits and dunk it into chocolate right?]

Welcome to our chaotic fruit fondue and drinks stall!

We had to first set- up the fondue machine...

Not forgetting to pose for the camera while doing it...

Then we had to melt the chunks of chocolate. Do you know how much chocolate we used that day? Almost 4kg of chocolate!!!!!

Finally we got the machine to start flowing. Wow! Look how delicious that looks!!!

What a sense of accomplishment...

And then we have to cut the fruits...

The minute we opened our booth, it was so immensely popular that long queues started forming and we didn't even have time for a breather. But thanks to all who came to support our booth!:)

Other than our stall... there were also many other exciting activities at THAF Family Day.

Kangoo Jump.
Soccer.

Volleyball.

for the entire school.

Then there was our open category captain's ball competition where the alumni faced off against their teachers...(Mr. Jeremy, Mr. Fadzil, Mr. Chan, Mrs Weinie Tan and Mdm Soh)

And also the current batch of JYPS students.

In the end, everyone had fun, and that is most important, isn't it?

Other than these usual sports, for the first time, we had a snapshot competition at THAF Family Day where we wanted to look for the best picture portraying everyone having fun at THAF Family Day.

And the student category was won by the soccer boys and friends. Sports, health, energy, friendship, teamwork and fun are all spelt out in this photo. What could be a more deserving shot?

Most 'In your own world shot.'

Everyone seems to be in their own world and doing their own thing. Some are smiling happily, some are trying to fly like superman but sadly failing to take off, some looks lost and some just has a face that says 'I don't wanna be here!'.

Most' Act cute' shot is tied by these two photos.

Best 'Crazy face' photo. The boy in orange really gave it his all to show us how distorted his face can become.

Most 'Different in size' brothers. One is simply tiny and the other... well... I wonder how their mother feeds them?

THAF Family Day was filled with fun... but we can't forget the hardworking people who slogged hours away just to make your morning a fun- filled one!

Successful THAF Family Day

After a few weeks of frenzy preparation and even staying back in school to prepare till 7pm, THAF Family Day 2008 finally took flight. Although everything was a little messy and we were rather short- handed, I guess it was a good first attempt.

Although not many alumni turned up, we had reasonable group comprising alumni from different years.

Our chocolate fondue and fruit stall was immensely popular among students, staff and even teachers!

We also managed to capture many great moments of everyone having a great time at THAF Family Day in our snapshot competition. In the end, the student category was won by the soccer boys and the open category was won by a group shot of the alumni helpers and Mdm Salamah.

Quite a number of students also signed up at our alumni registration booth and recieved a complimentary 'Alumni Privilege Card' which entitled them to discounts and privileges at all alumni initiatives including a 20% discount at our fruit fondue stall!!!!!

Many also joined our captain's ball competition and had a great time sweating and battling it out.

Thanks to those who came down to participate in THAF Family Day 2008 and those who contributed to our fund raising. I would also like to thank the alumni helpers who woke up early in the morning and help make the event a successful one.

We hope all of you had a great time at THAF Family Day 2008 and stay tuned for more information about upcoming plans and events for the JYPS Alumni.

Error of date

Sorry about the error on the blog display.

THAF Family Day will be on 19th July and

not 15th July from 8.00 to 12 noon.

Some people asked about the shuttle bus, the shuttle bus will start from around 8 a.m. and there will be a bus from the bus stop outside simei MRT every fifteen minutes. You can also walk to the new campus from Simei MRT, it is around 10 minutes walk.

Otherwise, you can take buses 5, 12 or 38. It will stop outside a staircase leading to the school.

We will also be having an open category captain's ball competition on THAF Family Day. If you are interested in joining, please form your own team and mail your team member's names, gender and contact numbers to jypsalumni@gmail.com.

Each team should have min5 and max 7 people with at least 2 of the opposite gender. Only 5 will be allowed to play at one time. Teams will be briefed about rules and regulations on the morning of the competition.

We are very pleased that we have received such positive feedback about our alumni initiatives and we hope to see many of you turn up for THAF Family Day this weekend!

THAF Family Day

For the first time ever, we are organizing an open category captain's ball competition for staff, parents and alumni who attend THAF Family Day.

So this is your chance to battle it out with your favourite teachers!!

There will also be other exciting activities like archery, hip- hop dance, kangaroo jump, snapshot competition and many others.

There will also be many stalls selling interesting and delicious healthy tidbits.

So please come down on 19th July 2008 from 8.30 - 11.30 a.m. to the new JYPS Campus for THAF Family Day.

The new campus is at 7, Jalan Tiga Ratus which is five to ten minutes walk from simei MRT. If you are still unsure how to get there, there will be shuttle buses provided from Simei MRT every fifteen minutes.

We will also be setting up an alumni registration booth in the canteen so please do register with us so we can contact you for further events.

Lastly... we will be setting up stalls to raise funds for our new alumni so please do visit our Fruit Fondue and Lemonade Stall.

Starting the Alumni

Hi!

We are officially starting the JYPS alumni.

A few of us who graduated in 01' came back to JYPS to do relief teaching and after getting the school's approval, we are going to kick start our alumni.

I know that many previous attempts to get the alumni together have failed but trust us that we're gonna get everything together this time!!!!!
